Jordan Klear, Chairman & CEO

Jordan Klear

Chairman and CEO

Jordan Klear serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sound Minds Behavioral, a leading outpatient behavioral health platform in the Mid-Atlantic region.

​EXPERIENCE WITH MEDSURANT:

Jordan previously served as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Medsurant Health. Medsurant Health is one of the nation’s leading providers of outsourced intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IOM) services to hospitals and surgeons. Through continuing education, advanced practices, and unsurpassed client care, Medsurant works with neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons to help mitigate any risk of surgical injury while also protecting clients and providing cost-effective options to hospitals for any surgical procedure where neural structures are at risk.

 

He founded the company in 2009 and subsequently led the acquisition of seven tuck-in acquisitions throughout the country in order to form one of the leading platforms in the industry. He consistently delivered organic growth throughout his tenure while leading the company, increasing revenue 20x while maintaining material operating margins.

​NOTABLE AWARDS & ACCOLADES:

  • Medsurant made the 2016 and the 2017 Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies. Additionally, the Company was acknowledged as one of the Top Workplaces in the Philadelphia metropolitan region by Philly.com.

  • The company was also named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Soaring 76 list of the region’s fastest-growing companies.

  • In 2018, Jordan was named a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

  • Served as Chairman of the American NeuroMonitoring Association.

  • Serves on the Corporate Council at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and as a Director at Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia.

  • His career began at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He holds a Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University.

  • He is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia and the Young Presidents Organization Philadelphia Chapter.

Jordan and his wife, Kelly, reside in Philadelphia with their two sons.

Phyllis Weisfield, Vice President of Business Development

Phyllis Weisfield

Vice President of Business Development

Phyllis Weisfield has 40 years of work experience in the Behavioral Healthcare market in Southeastern, Pennsylvania. She has worked in direct care, supervisory, and administrative roles in all levels of care throughout the behavioral health continuum.

​EDUCATION:

Phyllis received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Temple University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.

​MORE ABOUT PHYLLIS' EXPERTISE:

Phyllis also has experience working in the insurance side of the industry. For 6 years, she was employed by an independent subsidiary of Independence Blue Cross. In that role, she developed and implemented a psychiatric crisis center that served members who were insured by the large plans in the area.

​

In 1994, she was recruited to join the staff of the Horsham Clinic, an acute inpatient behavioral healthcare facility in the role of Clinical Director/Assistant Administrator. In addition to her duties at the hospital, she was a team member of the management company, which was owned by the parent company of the hospital. The management company operated acute behavioral health inpatient units within medical/surgical hospitals throughout the country.

​

She was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer of the facility. She held that position for 8 years. In addition to her responsibilities as COO, she also was the Director of a Managed Care company that was a joint venture between Horsham and a local med-surg hospital. The MCO managed over 300,000 covered lives in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Massachusetts.

​

Phyllis was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer. She held that position for 14 years until her retirement from the hospital in July 2019. Under her leadership, the hospital completed a 60-bed expansion project bringing the total number of licensed beds to 206. This established the Horsham Clinic as the largest provider of acute inpatient services in the Southeastern Pennsylvania market at the time. Additionally, by establishing relationships with the surrounding counties, the hospital opened acute partial hospitalization programs in Bucks, Delaware, and Chester County in addition to the two programs that operated at the main campus.

​

Phyllis is the past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Behavioral Healthcare Systems; a statewide organization of senior executives of all the free-standing behavioral health hospitals.

​

This organization advocates for policy changes through legislative action to better serve individuals with behavioral health and substance abuse disorders.

​

Phyllis is a longstanding member of the National Association of Social Workers and remains strongly committed to the values and principles of the profession.

​

Greg Nucifora, Vice President of Finance & Controller

Greg Nucifora

Vice President of Finance/Controller

Greg Nucifora has joined our team as Vice President of Finance/Controller and adds more than 30 years of healthcare finance experience to Sound Minds Behavioral.

​EDUCATION:

He’s a former certified public accountant and has an MBA in Corporate Finance from St. Joseph’s University.

​EXPERIENCE:

He has recently consulted in the outpatient rehabilitation industry providing business development expertise to Ivy Rehabilitation an emerging national provider.

​

Prior to that, he has held positions as Chief Administrative & Financial Officer with Onward Behavioral health a behavioral, drug and alcohol counseling company, and Chief Financial Officer for Theraplay Inc; a pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy company.

​

Greg is a Philadelphia native and currently resides in West Chester, PA. with his wife Bernadette. Together they have 4 adult children who have also stayed in the area. In his spare time, he enjoys teaching as an adjunct professor of Accounting at Villanova University’s MBA program.

Rachel Bennett, Vice President of Operations

Rachel Bennett

Vice President of Operations

Rachel Bennett is Sound Minds Behavioral's Director of Operations and has been serving as director of operations for Sound Minds Behavioral since 2016.

​EDUCATION:

Rachel received her BA and MA from the University of Chicago.

​EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD:

Prior to joining Sound Minds Behavioral, Rachel spent 10 years at Association Management Center in Chicago. Most recently serving as the senior managing editor responsible for the publication of marketing and scholarly materials for the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association, American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Her responsibilities include daily operational logistics, staff management and development, monitoring the AR revenue cycle, and evaluating and assessing opportunities for growth for the organization. Rachel feels that the most important aspect of her role is supporting clinicians and office staff, allowing them to focus on delivering quality and compassionate care and customer service to our clients.

​

She looks forward to identifying innovative ways to ensure those who need behavioral health care can access it.

​

We are happy to have Rachel as a part of our team! Her compassion combined with expertise makes her a perfect fit. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading, cooking, attending her son Ivan’s many sporting events, and spending time with her family.
